Maintaining your Chute Help Fully Automatic Roping Chute is a straightforward process. With just a few simple steps and minimal effort, you can ensure your chute is ready for action. Let's dive into some essential maintenance tips.
Essential Maintenance Steps
Here are some pointers to keep your chute in top shape. After reading, check out the video to see these steps in action:
Use the Right Lubricant
Always use a dry lubricant on all parts of your equipment. Avoid heavy, thick grease. We recommend WD-40 Dry Lube for the top "slider bar" and the stainless steel rollers at the front of your chute.
Adjusting Front Gates
If your front gates close slowly or need a gentle push, inspect the area below the hood and above the front gates. You’ll find a spring with a nut on top, resting on three steel rollers. Loosen the nut about 1/4 turn at a time. Apply some WD-40 Dry Lube on the steel rollers and slider bar. If you need more speed, continue adjusting the nut until you achieve the desired speed.
Check Your Remotes
Ensure your remotes are functioning well. If they’ve been exposed to the elements or are over a year old, it might be time for a replacement. The relays inside wear out over time. If the red light turns on but doesn’t always activate, consider buying a new remote or two. The three-button Liftmaster 890 Max remote pairs with your dark grey Liftmaster receiver.
Fixing Clicking Noises
If you hear a clicking noise from your Liftmaster receiver, it’s often resolved by replacing the Relay Assembly.
Clean Underneath the Floor
Remove debris from under the chute. Ensure the floor is nearly touching the square tubing at the bottom.
Test Battery Voltage
Use a voltmeter to check your battery's voltage. If it’s low, inspect the solar panel and charge the battery with a standard charger. Your system voltage must be at 12 volts.
Inspect Electronics and Wiring
Look for corrosion on the electronics and wiring. Replace any corroded terminal ends to ensure proper function.
Check the Solenoid
Ensure the solenoid's plunger moves freely. If it’s stuck, you’ll need a replacement HERE.

How to Program a Liftmaster 890Max Three-Button Remote
Programming your remote is easy. Follow these steps:
Remove the four small screws from the back of the receiver and take off the cover.
Ensure the chute is powered “on.”
In the receiver, press and release the blue button above the yellow wires. A yellow light will turn on.
With the remote in hand, press and release any of the three buttons you want to program until the yellow light turns off.
The remote button is now programmed and can be tested.
A successful test will activate the solenoid.
Repeat these steps for each button on each remote.
Replace the cover on the receiver and clip it back into place on the chute.
Additional Maintenance Tips
Regular Inspections
Regularly inspect your chute for any signs of wear or damage. Look closely at the moving parts. Early detection of issues can save you time and money.
Seasonal Maintenance
Consider performing a thorough maintenance check at the beginning of each season. This ensures your chute is ready for the busy times ahead.
Keeping Records
Keep a maintenance log. Document when you perform maintenance and any parts replaced. This helps track the health of your equipment and can be useful for warranty purposes.
Upgrading Equipment
If your chute is older, consider upgrading to newer models or parts. Technology improves over time, and newer equipment can enhance efficiency and safety.
